Ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water is a top priority for the City of Otsego. To address this, the city has undertaken significant projects to enhance water quality through advanced filtration systems.
Completion of Well House #4 Filtration Project
In April 2026, Otsego completed construction improvements at Well House #4, located adjacent to the Riverwood National development at 10000 90th Street. The facility now features filtration devices designed to remove iron, manganese, and radium from the water supply. Additional enhancements include a standby emergency generator, a backwash recovery system, and advanced monitoring capabilities. These upgrades aim to improve drinking water quality, enhance operational efficiencies, and increase the resiliency of the city’s water system. Funding for this project was provided by Environmental Protection Agency Community Grants, the Minnesota State Revolving Fund, Minnesota Emerging Contaminants Grants, and water rates.
Upcoming Well House #3 Filtration Project
Building on the success of Well House #4, Otsego is set to begin construction improvements at Well House #3 in the fall of 2026, with completion anticipated by summer 2028. Located in the Kittredge Crossing Development, across from Kaleidoscope Charter School, this project will install similar filtration devices to remove iron, manganese, and radium. The upgrades will also include a standby emergency generator, a backwash recovery system, and monitoring capabilities. These improvements are expected to further enhance drinking water quality and bolster the overall resilience of Otsego’s water infrastructure. Funding sources mirror those of the Well House #4 project.
These initiatives reflect Otsego’s commitment to providing residents with high-quality drinking water and maintaining a robust and efficient water system.
